About Polocrosse

Polocrosse is easiest to describe as lacrosse on horseback, it is fast paced and exciting to watch as a spectator sport. Teams try to gain possession of the ball and shoot it between their opponent's goal posts (which are just eight foot wide) in order to score.  Teams consist of six players but only three go onto the field at any one time and players have to swap every six minutes, allowing themselves and their horses chance to rest. There are three different areas on the field and players have to pass or bounce the ball betweeen the areas while moving at high speed.

RoR Team Chasing Prizes

In 2013 RoR is again awarding prizes for ex-racehorses competing in team chasing, in liaison with the MFHA National Team Chase Committee.  The prizes will be awarded at the National Team Chase Championships in April 2013.

A first prize of £500 and an RoR rug will be awarded to the owner of the ex-racehorse registered with RoR in the highest placed team in the Material Change Ltd and Goring Hotel National Team Chase Championship.  If there is more than one ex-racehorse in the team, each ex-racehorse will receive a prize.

A prize of £250 will be awarded to the runner-up, and £100 to the third highest placed horse or horses.

In addition, a voucher for an RoR coat will be awarded to all competitors who successfully complete the course in the UK Hunt Team Chase and the Fernie Intermediate Class, and are part of a team recording a time in that competition.

To qualify for the RoR prizes in team chasing, the thoroughbred must have raced in GB, be registered with RoR, and be running under its registered racing name.

Following the Championships in April, the series will once again be reviewed to see how it will continue in the future and how other competitions can be involved.
