RoR Prizes for Polocrosse
RoR is delighted to be supporting the return of International Polocrosse in Newmarket with a prize for the Best Retrained Racehorse at The Polocrosse Extreme Cup on 22nd and 23rd June 2013 at Dullingham Polo Grounds, Lower Farm, Dullingham from 9am to 5pm (both days). The overall winner will receive an RoR Horse Rug. Horses must be RoR registered and entered in the championships in their racing name to be eligible for the prize.
This year the UK team will be playing against a number of challenge teams in preparation for the team's tour to South Africa in July. For information about this event go to www.pxtcup.com
Polocrosse is easiest to describe as lacrosse on horseback, it is fast paced and exciting to watch as a spectator sport. Teams try to gain possession of the ball and shoot it between their opponent's goal posts (which are just eight foot wide) in order to score. Teams consist of six players but only three go onto the field at any one time and players have to swap every six minutes, allowing themselves and their horses chance to rest. There are three different areas on the field and players have to pass or bounce the ball betweeen the areas while moving at high speed.
