Overview

RoR/Tattersalls Show Series and Elite Performance Awards

The RoR/Tattersalls Show Series is part of the RoR/SEIB Elite Performance Awards.  The winner of the championship held at Hickstead in June 2012 will receive a prize of £2,500 at the British Breeding Breeders Dinner and Awards Ceremony in January 2013.

This show series is judged under Riding Horse class rules where the horse is ridden by the judge and given marks for the ride and then the conformation of the horse is judged.

Horses should be a mare or gelding, four-years-old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over.  All horses must have raced in the UK, be registered with Weatherbys in their General Stud Book and be registered with RoR. To encourage competition it has been decided that from January 2012 onwards, the previous year's winner of this RoR series (1st placed horse) will not be eligible to enter or compete in the same competition. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.

The first two at each qualifying show go forward to the championship at the Hickstead Derby Meeting. Please note, qualifiers must enter Hickstead Derby meeting under usual entry procedure. Qualification will go down to 4th place if the first two have already qualified.  There will also be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15 years or over. The class will be run under the rules of RoR.  Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle, and should be plaited.

The final will be split into two; the under 12 year olds and the 12 years and over horses.  The competitors will all come into the ring together and be split in two; there will be two ride judges, one for each section and a conformation judge who will judge both classes.  The top six from each section will be taken into the International Arena for the final judging.

RoR/Tattersalls Scottish Show Series

In 2012 RoR and Tattersalls are supporting a Show Series in Scotland with the final being held at the Royal Highland Show in 2013.

The first three at each qualifying show go forward to the championship at the Royal Highland Show 2013.  Please note, all those that have qualified for the Royal Highland Show must enter under normal entry procedure. Qualification will go down to 6th place if the first three have already qualified. There will also be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15 years or over. The class will be run under the rules of RoR. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle, and should be plaited.

RoR will supply prizes at the qualifiers, and a trophy, prizes and prize money at the championship at the Royal Highland Show.

RoR/SEIB Elite Performance Awards 2010

The Ballroom at the Grange City Hotel, London, was packed to capacity for the glittering British Breeders awards dinner held on Saturday 8th January 2011, incorporating the RoR and South Essex Insurance Brokers (SEIB) Elite Performance Awards for 2010.

SEIB and ROR have joined forces to create these valuable awards with a prize fund of £30,000 donated by RoR.

The awards provide a focus for ex-racehorses competing in the disciplines of Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping, Endurance and Showing and have encouraged more riders to recognize the talents and versatility of the thoroughbred and their potential for success in another sphere.

The Elite Performance Award for Showing was given in two parts, each receiving an Award of £2,500.  These were presented to the winner of the RoR/SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Championship held at the Horse of the Year Show, Sonia Fitch-Peyton and Tim Billington’s Blue Java. Sonia plans to continue showing in Small Riding Horse classes next year and carry on with affiliated dressage, they have never been out of the first four in British Dressage classes.

The winner of the RoR/Tattersalls Thoroughbred Show Horse Championship at Hickstead, Victoria Smart and her daughter Beth’s five-year-old Chivola, took the other Showing award. Chivola was purchased at the breeze up sales as a two-year-old for Victoria’s husband Brian to train. He ran 11 times on the flat and had one win. Chivola is already qualified for Hickstead next year.

SHOWING WINNERS:

BLUE JAVA - ridden by Sonia Fitch-Peyton and owned by Tim Billington - winner of the RoR/SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Championship at HOYS.

CHIVOLA - ridden by Victoria Smart and owned by her daughter Beth - winner of the RoR/Tattersalls Show Series.
