Lecture demo at Greatwood - 10th June
Anyone considering taking on an ex-racehorse, or who already owns a Thoroughbred, will benefit from a lecture demonstration evening at Greatwood on Tuesday 10th June at 6.30pm.
The Marlborough based charity rescues, rehabilitates and where possible rehomes former racehorses.
There will be a riding demonstration by Jamaican event rider Sam Albert, who has already secured a place at the Olympics in Hong Kong. Sam has successfully brought on many former racehorses to event and whilst all ex-racers cannot go on to such great things, Sam has many tips and advice on how to get the most out of your horse.
Greatwood's founder Helen Yeadon has a lifetime's experience of horses to share and Dr Sven Kold, of the Willesley Equine Clinic, is one of the country's leading equine vets. A nutritionist from Dodson & Horrell will also be on hand to answer any questions.
Tickets cost just £5 plus 50p postage if you would like to guarantee a place - there are limited spaces. Please call Greatwood on 01672 514535.

Clinic - 3rd February, Stanley Grange Stud, Middlesbrough
Blizzard conditions and high winds meant that the planned RoR Showing Clinic with Allistair Hood at Stanley Grange Stud, Middlesbrough could not go ahead on Friday 1st February. However, thanks to the generosity of stud owner Jerome Harforth and Allistair it was hastily rearranged for the Sunday afternoon and four ex-racehorses thoroughly enjoyed their hour's tuition.
Allistair, a leading rider/trainer of show horses from Suffolk, has had numerous Hack/Riding Horse Champions at HOYS. The Clinic began by allowing the horses to warm up and then he gave advice to each rider on how to improve their overall outline and performance followed by each horse doing an individual show as they would in the RoR showing series. All riders questions were answered and the Showing Clinic was a great success.
Participants included: Liz Kettle, Dianne Drysdale, Vicky Smart, Dierdre Johnston.
