Zippi Jazzman and Izzy Taylor jumped to victory in the RoR NTF Eventing Championships

This year, 13 combinations entered the RoR NTF Retrained Racehorse Event Championships at Barbury International Horse Trials.

This Championship is open to any grade of GB raced former racehorse and is run at Intermediate Novice, so to have 13 combinations come forward was a real testament to the adaptability of the thoroughbred.

The dressage, show jumping and cross country were on Friday, with eight horses going forward to the final on Saturday. For the final the horses come back to show jump in the main arena and run in reverse order. This twist to the competition quite often alters the placings.

However, this year the one place that was unaltered was the winner, Izzy Taylor and Zippi Jazzman. Zippi Jazzman was formerly trained by Ralph Beckett and ran in 11 races, he won one race and was placed several times. Since retiring from racing he has been out doing some RoR show classes as well as being seen on the hunting field.

Izzy also picked up 3rd place on her other horse, Star Of Memory. This horse and ran both on the flat and over hurdles when trained by David Bridgwater.

The Reserve champion went to Gemma Plastow on Laurentian Lad a former flat horse for trainer Rae Guest.
