news RoR Launch Central Region Virtual Racecourse Sponsored Ride

8th August 2021
  • Exciting opportunity for everyone to get involved
  • Still time to complete the challenge
  • Open to any horse registered with RoR

Since Saturday 25th of July, RoR members have been taking on the challenge of riding a total of 90 miles, the equivalent of hacking between four central racecourses Uttoxeter, Wolverhampton, Warwick and Stratford before the end of play on Saturday 4th September.

The Virtual Racecourse Sponsored Ride aims to raise funds by accumulating miles when hacking, on beach rides, fun rides or even long reining to total the target of 90 miles. The miles completed are recorded via tracking apps such as Samsung Health, Ridley or Equilab and submitted to regional co-ordinator and organiser, Karen Beaumont.

Among the 21 horses and riders currently clocking up the miles is RoR Regional Co-ordinator, Karen Beaumont and her former racehorse Coverdale Lady, the pair have accumulated 39.61 miles so far. A total of six members including Laura Johnson, Toni Heathcote, Rachel Wilson and Janine Day are soon to be hitting the mid-way point at Wolverhampton Racecourse.

However, it is the 15 year old gelding, formerly trained by Brendan Powell, Julie Prince and owner Tracy Dover, who have shown their durability throughout, already passing the mid-way point and are now on route to their final racecourse.

Sponsorship to be raised via www.justgiving.com

Minimum Sponsorship entry fee: £50 which includes an embroidered completion polo shirt.
