RoR/NTF Eventing Championship moves to the Festival of British Eventing
The 2018, the running of the RoR Retrained Racehorse Eventing Championship, sponsored by the National Trainers Federation (NTF), will this year be held at Gatcombe Park as part of the The Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing, 3rd to the 5th August.
The NTF sponsored championship has a prize fund of £6,000 and was won last year by Izzy Taylor and Zippi Jazzman who took the first prize of £2,000. The American bred gelding by Dixieland Band was formerly in training with Ralph Beckett.
First staged in 2003, the RoR Eventing Championship is an Intermediate Novice Class, open to any grade of former GB raced thoroughbred and entries are accepted on a first come first served basis.
Peter Phillips, Event Director of The Festival of British Eventing, said: “The Festival of British Eventing is thrilled to be hosting the RoR/NTF Retrained Racehorse Eventing Championship at Gatcombe Park. The Festival is a true showcase of our sport with 2018 seeing five National Championships taking place over the weekend and it seems only right that we are including this ever growing class amongst them.
With the likes of Izzy Taylor and Harry Meade having won the RoR/NTF Eventing Championship crown in previous years, I can guarantee we will be treated to an exciting top class competition.”
Di Arbuthnot, Chief Executive of RoR, added: “We are thrilled that the class will be part of the Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing. The RoR/NTF Retrained Racehorse Eventing Championship is one of our longest running competitions and our thanks go to the NTF for their continued sponsorship and also to all at Barbury Castle for staging the class in previous years and helping make it such a success.”
