RoR Wales- Introduction to owning a former Racehorse Day- Shropshire/North Wales, LL13.
Whether you own a former racehorse or are thinking about taking one on this is a fantastic opportunity to have an insight into what to expect and to gain more knowledge to help you on your journey.
We will talk all about the early days when a horse leaves racing to educating and supporting them in their second careers.
The day will be lead by Amy Bannister-Bell a BHSI coach who runs Clwydian Stud where many Thoroughbreds start their education prior to going into training and where many also come to be retrained or rehabilitated. Amy will discuss the stages of development of young thoroughbreds and how to plan and carry out retraining programmes.
There are a number of former race horses at Clwydian Stud and there will be a chance to see them working on the ground and under saddle, we will also cover, feeding, shoeing, handling, ground work, training, fitness and routine with the chance to ask questions througout the day.
The day will also be supported by discussions from a Farrier and Musculoskeltetal therapist who work regualrly with former race horses.
The day will start at 11am and run until 2:30pm, there will be tea, coffee and cake provided.
This day is open to members and non members of RoR.
