RoR Midlands - Sophie Lai Pole Clinic
RoR are pleased to be welcomed at Sandy Lane Equestrian Centre which first opened it's doors to riders in 2003. Set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside the centre boast a spectacular indoor arena plus a large floodlit outdoor arena. The centre has a relaxed atmosphere and will ensure a warm welcome for you and your horse.
Coaching at this great centre is Sophia Lai, a BHS freelance coach who is well accustomed to working with former rachorses. At this clinic she is offering two sessions for RoR members, each will last an hour and be in groups of three, during which riders will work with their horses over poles. Pole work is invaluable for improving balance, rhythm in the horses stride and improve flexibilty. It can also be an excellent way to introduce horses to jumping, by introducing coloured poles and building confidence.
Sophia Lai Bio
I am a freelance coach, trainer and rider based in Cheshire. I run my own riding club (Cheshire Riding Club) which has just been established this year. I have competed at the national show jumping circuit in Ireland for most of my career. I went on to become a retraining rider/trainer for The Hong Kong Jockey Club for a few years. I’ve trained horses straight from the race track to become ridden horses that have excelled in Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing.
I am very passionate in using my skills, knowledge and experience in educating horses and giving them a different career. I truly believe that patience, planning and support is key to retraining racehorses.
I have gained a vast amount of experience and skills as a retraining rider and would love to share and spread my expertise to others and support others in achieving their goals.
