Entries now open for The Jockey Club RoR National Championships 2025
Entries are now open for The Jockey Club RoR National Championships, taking place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre from 19 to 24 August 2025. The six-day event features classes in showing, dressage, arena eventing, and showjumping, culminating in the crowning of the RoR Elite Performance Award for Dressage and the prestigious Tattersalls RoR Ridden Showing Supreme Champion during Saturday’s evening performance.
Generously sponsored by The Jockey Club, this flagship event is the largest in Great Britain dedicated exclusively to former racehorses. It has attracted thousands of entries over the years and provides the ultimate showcase for the versatility and adaptability of the Thoroughbred following their retirement from racing.
Last year’s Championships saw 294 former racehorses compete, including well-known names such as Balthazar King, Definitly Red, Duc Des Genievres, Kalashnikov, Lalor, and Smad Place.
In 2024 The Tattersalls RoR Ridden Showing Supreme Champion title was awarded to Gentleman At Arms, ridden by Harriet Edmunds. Trained by her father Stuart Edmunds, Gentleman At Arms enjoyed a successful racing career, winning six races and earning over £90,000. His final victory came at Aintree in November 2023, just months before his emotional return to the venue in his new showing career.
Other notable achievements included the Elite Performance Award for Dressage, claimed by Tapaidh Frankie and Tracy Thirlwall.
David Catlow, Managing Director of RoR, commented: “We are very much looking forward to this year’s National Championship Show. It offers former racehorses and their owners the chance to compete across a range of disciplines at the highest level, while also celebrating the many diverse second careers Thoroughbreds can enjoy after racing. The event highlights the vital role that RoR — alongside the wider racing industry — plays in ensuring lifelong care and support for these horses as they transition into new chapters.”
Entries for The Jockey Club RoR National Championships open at 12 noon on Monday 16 June and will remain open until 1 August at 23.50pm.
The full schedule can be viewed online, and entries can be made on Horse Monkey. For all other enquiries including stabling and hook-up please visit Aintree Equestrian website.
