RoR are searching for horses with big hearts
RoR is hoping to attract entries from the many owners of former racehorses for it’s 2018 RoR Heart Awards, the closing date of which is 23rd September. Open to all owners of registered RoR former racehorses, these awards are a fun opportunity for riders to nominate their horses for being great to know and love, whether retrained for fun or for the challenges of a new equestrian career.
There are four RoR Heart award categories including the RoR Biggest Heart Award which will be given to the horse that has shown unrivalled loyalty, affection and that is just great to know and love, and the RoR Heart Throb Award will be judged on the horse’s natural beauty and condition. There will be recognition too for the former racehorse that has overcome great adversity rising to the challenges of starting a new career with the RoR Heart Stopper Award. Finally, the RoR Healthy Heart Award will be for the horse that has shown itself fit enough in body and spirit to adapt across many equine disciplines.
All entries will then go to a RoR judging panel and a shortlist of six nominees decided for each award category. The most popular nominees to go through as finalists will be decided by fans in an online poll vote, and the four winners will be announced at the RoR End of Season Party on Saturday 17th November at Doncaster Racecourse. The winners will each receive a RoR trophy and RoR rug for their horse.
Di Arbuthnot, Director of RoR Operations said; “The 2018 RoR Heart Awards are a fun way to recognise the special bond, passion and great achievements of some of the thousands of former racehorses that are lovingly rehomed and retrained each year. We hear some great success stories from riders and we hope that by running our campaign, we will get people talking passionately about the rewards of owning a former racehorse.”
If you feel you and your horse have the passion to be a winner of a RoR Heart Award, entries can be made online at https://ror-events.org.uk/heart-awards-homepage/. Closing date for entries is 23rd September 2018. Tickets for the RoR End of Season party can also be purchased online at www.ror-events.org.uk
