On the 8^th March 2018, the Disciplinary Panel held a hearing to consider whether Victoria Joyce was in breach of Rules 8.1 and 8.5 of the Rules and Regulations of Retraining of Racehorses concerning the presence of a Prohibited Substance in a sample of blood taken from AL KHAWANEEJ at Aintree on 26^thAugust, 2017.

The Disciplinary Panel considered the documentation and admission on the part of Victoria Joyce that she was in breach of Rules 8.1 and 8.5. Having considered the matter, they accepted her admission and concluded that she was in breach of Rules 8.1 and 8.5 of the Rules and Regulations of Retraining of Racehorses in that a sample of blood was taken from AL KHAWANEEJ at Aintree on 26^th August 2017, following the participation of the horse in the RoR Classes that day. That sample tested positive for the presence of acepromazine and hydroxyethylpromazine sulphoxide, which are prohibited substances as defined in the RoR Rules and Regulations.

Having carefully considered the comments of Victoria Joyce in connection with the penalty, the Disciplinary Panel accepted that the cause of the positive sample was the administration of Sedalin.

Credit was given for her very early admission, the fact that no B sample was requested, her full co-operation throughout the matter, the cogent explanation given for the positive result and the fact that she took full responsibility and would have attended the hearing if personal circumstance would have allowed.

However, it is an offence for a horse to compete with any Prohibited Substance in its system and the Panel felt very strongly that the presence of any sedative in the system of the horse on the day of the show is a very serious matter. The panel imposed the following penalties:

1. A fine of £500.00, payable within 14 days. The Chief Executive of RoR is authorised to agree a payment plan if requested in writing.
2. Disqualification of AL KHAWANEEJ form the classes in which he competed at the Aintree Show in August 2017
3. Forfeiture of any placings, awards or prize money won an all classes in which AL KHAWANEEJ competed at the Aintree Show in August 2017, with such awards or prize money to be returned to RoR within 14 days.

MICHAEL MEREDITH & JANET GOUGH ROBERTS – ISLAND SOUND

On the 8^th March 2018, the Disciplinary Panel held a hearing to consider whether Michael Meredith and Jane Gough Roberts were in breach of Rules 8.1 and 8.5 of the Rules and Regulations of Retraining of Racehorses concerning the presence of a Prohibited Substance in a sample of urine taken from ISLAND SOUND at Aintree on 25^th August, 2017.

The Disciplinary Panel considered the documentation and admission on the part of Michael Meredith and Jane Gough Roberts that they were in breach of Rules 8.1 and 8.5. Having considered the matter, they accepted her admission and concluded that she was in breach of Rules 8.1 and 8.5 of the Rules and Regulations of Retraining of Racehorses in that a sample of urine was taken from ISLAND SOUND at Aintree on 25^th August 2017, following the participation of the horse in the RoR Classes that day. That sample tested positive for the presence of phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone, which are prohibited substances as defined in the RoR Rules and Regulations.

The Disciplinary Panel carefully considered the comments of Michael Meredith and Jane Gough Roberts in connection with penalty.

Credit was given for their prompt admission, the fact that no B sample was requested and their full co-operation throughout the matter.

However, the panel recognised that it is a serious offence for a horse to compete with any Prohibited Substance in it’s system and imposed the following penalties:

1. A fine of £500.00, apportioned as to £300.00 to Jane Gough Roberts and £200.00 to Michael Meredith, payable within 14 days.
2. Disqualification of ISLAND SOUND from the classes in which he competed at the Aintree Show in August 2017
3. Forfeiture of any placings, awards or prize money won an all classes in which ISLAND SOUND competed at the Aintree Show in August 2017, with such awards or prize money to be returned to RoR within 14 days.

SOPHIE WILSON – JOHANNESGRAY

The Disciplinary Panel considered the documentation and admission on the part Sophie Wilson were in breach of Rules 8.1 and 8.5. Having considered the matter, they accepted her admission and concluded that she was in breach of Rules 8.1 and 8.5 of the Rules and Regulations of Retraining of Racehorses in that a sample of urine was taken from JOHANNESGRAY at Aintree on 25^th August 2017, following the participation of the horse in the RoR Classes that day. That sample tested positive for the presence of phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone, which are prohibited substances as defined in the RoR Rules and Regulations.
